＜the＋比較級 … the＋比較級 …＞というように、「the」に「比較級」を続けたものを文頭に並べることで「～をすればするほど、ますます～だ」という意味で使うことができます。
The more I saw her, the more I liked her.
（彼女を見れば見るほど、好きになった。）
The more he thought about it, the more depressed he became.
（彼はそのことを考えれば考えるほど彼は落胆した。）
The sooner, the better.（早ければ早いほど良いです。）
The more, the merrier.（多ければ多いほど楽しい。）
