8. Ought to ( subjectiveness) "Ought to" is the modal auxiliary verb. This needs "to-infinitive." The meanings are two as follows. (1) a. Obligation ( objective meaning) b. Possibility ( objectiveness - subjective meaning) This is similar to "should." This can be often changed into it, but "should" is usually preferred. Moreover, this does not have the past tense.
